Chicken Paratha Rolls

Delicious chicken Paratha rolls made with chicken marinated spicy chicken, topped with onions garlic mayo and mint chutneys, and wrapped in a flaky paratha.

Chicken Paratha Rolls are a popular street food in Pakistan, loved for their delicious mix of bold flavors. Tender, marinated grilled chicken pairs perfectly with crunchy onions, spicy mint chutney, and creamy garlic mayo, all wrapped in a soft, flaky paratha (flatbread) for a satisfying meal.

These easy Chicken Paratha Rolls are great for a quick weeknight dinner, packed lunch, or picnic snack. With minimal prep required, they’re also perfect to make ahead and enjoy anytime you want a flavorful Pakistani street food experience at home.

Chicken Paratha Rolls

Chicken: Use breast fillets or thigh fillets, cut into small bite-sized pieces for quick cooking and easy rolling.

Parathas: Store-bought parathas work great and are widely available at Indian grocery stores. In Australia, Coles and Woolworths also stock them. You can choose between plain or wholemeal parathas.

Yogurt: Plain yogurt, preferably Greek yoghurt, forms the base of the marinade and helps tenderize the chicken.

Spices: Red chili powder, turmeric, cumin powder, garam masala, coriander powder, and black pepper powder add authentic Pakistani flavor.

Lemon Juice & Garlic Paste: For freshness and a hint of zing in the marinade.

Toppings: Sliced onions and fresh coriander (cilantro), paired with your favorite sauces—garlic mayo and homemade mint chutney are my favorites for an extra burst of flavor.

How to Make Chicken Paratha Rolls

1. Prepare the Chicken:
Marinate bite-sized boneless chicken pieces in yogurt, garlic paste, lemon juice, and spices. For the best flavor, marinate for a few hours, but if you’re short on time, 30 minutes will still work.

2. Cook the Chicken:
Heat a little oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the marinated chicken and cook until it’s tender and fully cooked through.

3. Cook the Parathas:
Prepare the parathas according to the package instructions until they are golden and flaky.

4. Assemble the Rolls:
Place some cooked chicken on a warm paratha. Drizzle with garlic mayo and mint chutney, add thinly sliced onions and fresh coriander (cilantro). Roll it up tightly and enjoy while warm.

Making Chicken Paratha Rolls Ahead

You can easily make Chicken Paratha Rolls ahead of time by prepping the marinated chicken in advance, along with the mint raita and sliced onions. When you’re ready to serve, simply warm the parathas and assemble the rolls for a fresh and flavorful meal.

For best results, enjoy these paratha rolls while the parathas are still warm and flaky. Avoid assembling them more than a couple of hours ahead, as the parathas may become soggy if left too long.

Chicken Paratha Rolls are perfect for hosting, especially during high teas or Ramadan gatherings. To serve, wrap each paratha roll individually in butter paper or baking paper. This helps keep them moist and makes it easier for guests to hold and enjoy.

For bite-sized snacks, you can also cut the rolls in half—ideal for parties or sharing.
