Chicken gyros

Greek Chicken Gyros

Grilled Chicken wrapped in Greek pita with tzakiti sauce and salad.

Ingredients
  

  • 500 g Boneless chicken
  • 1/2 cup Greek Yoghurt
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 2 tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 1 tbsp Oregano
  • ½ tsp Paprika
  • ½ tsp Blackpepper
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp Oil (For grilling chicken)

Tzakiti

  • 1 cup yoghurt
  • 1/4 cup Cucumber grated
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 tsp Crushed Garlic

Salad

  • 1 cucumber chopped
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 1 tomatoe chopped
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • salt

Instructions
 

Cooking Chicken

  • Combine all marinade ingredients in a bowl or zip lock bag and add chicken.
  • Marinate for atleast 1 hour.
  • Grill it on a pan with little oil. Turning it once its done on one side.
  • Once chicken is done cover it with foil to rest for 10 mins.
  • Cut it into strips.

Tzakiti

  • Grate a cucumber and squeeze out the water using muslin cloth or tea towel.
  • Add grated cucumber to yoghurt along with crushed garlic, olive oil and salt, and mix.

Salad

  • Chop onions, tomatoe and cucumber, add lemon juice and salt.

Assembly

  • Heat pita bread, arrange chicken strips, followed by tzakiti and salad, roll it and serve immediately.
